Why I Postponed Joining uVme During Prelaunch

uVme

uVme is an over hyped gaming network where players enter tournaments to win money. The prelaunch phase had plenty of hype and little substance. I could not even test the games that I would pay money to play. Upon signing up for more information I was both sceptical and excited.

I am not a fan of subscribing to Internet money making schemes and prefer to ‘invest’ my money into more traditional vehicles such as real estate or property. I like to review data about the investment from non-biased sources. I like to look at its history and see if any one else in the investment world has got burned. So I stayed cool, waited for the uVme launch date before jumping into anything.

Why was I sceptical?

The prelaunch hype was overwhelming. When searching uVme on Google the results would list:

  • YouTube videos with affiliate marketers promoting why uVme was the next revolution in online gaming
  • Banner adverts on how the online gaming was worth $412 per second
  • How the revolution in gaming was only 2 days 16 hours and 14 seconds away…
  • Website after website touting why you should join now or miss the opportunity

It was all rather disappointing when I was actually looking for information. All I would get was hype, hype and more hype.

Another major reason for being sceptical was the business itself. Who were the backers? Who was running it and what was the management team’s history of successful business start-ups. Basically, too many questions and not enough answers.

Prelaunch is over - Let’s play!

The prelaunch was filled with clever marketing and so I remained sceptical. Now that the prelaunch phase is over with the gaming servers online it is easy to test the games and the network. Basically the games you can play include pool, basketball shots, sudoku, and tetris look alikes.

How do you make money?

With paid games starting at $1 through to $4 and tournament winnings up to $1000 it is easy to see that this Internet gaming craze may take off after all. Basically the uVme gaming network works through social networking. Through the networking power of the uVme instant messenger one player will challenge another (You Versus Me). Challenge someone to a paid game and take the winnings when you’re victorious.
