One the 15th of November, 2007 I started this blogging adventure. From my humble beginnings I posted my mission statement with a basic topic of sailing. At the time I thought that writing about my hobby would be interesting. But when push came to key stroke I had writer’s block. So then the blog topic changed to “Sailing, techno gadgets, fitness and finance - stay tuned“. From here, randomness set in and has been going strong ever since. The funny thing is this - JohnnyMestizo[dot]com (JM) has allowed me to write about whatever topic I take interest in at the time. I write what I want.
The Evolution of Johnny Mestizo [dot] com
A year on JM is as random as ever and I believe I will keep it this way. I have tried to create other specialised blogs with limited success. I found that spreading the limited time I have across a variety of blogs meant I could maybe post once a week from each. A posting frequency of once a week is good for me and my lifestyle. Two things were raised above: Firstly do I write across multiple niche blogs or write with one multi-topic blog, and secondly do I write big posts with 1 week breaks or write small posts with 1 day breaks. My preferences have evolved to the following tendencies… Read the rest of this entry »

Well to people who know me fitness is a high priority. I am working on getting my fitness blog up and running so here is my first post: Hype or Helper - Digging into Skins Compression Wear.
Fitburner is all about Strength Endurance training. In the future I hope to have training programs, tips, workouts, my recommended products, nutritional info and pretty much anything else I discover on my road to my potential fitness! Stay tuned.
Why the heck am I splitting my blog?

Pop the champagne (sparkling) and let the celebrations begin! The 15th-Nov-07 marks the first post of this blog!
As you can tell time does change a blog. What have I learn since those good ol’ days? A time for reflection.
- Wordpress is the superior blog platform with Blogspot themes boring and platform lacking support
- Get web hosting for total control - pay for it using monetization.
- Mission Statement: ‘Yacht Blog’ - hmmm… I couldn’t generate that topic content so I diversified. Check out Why No Niche? Random Blogging Explained
- If you want readers then write good content. As it stands my greatest article of all time is Adventure into the Volcano
- Blogging as a hobby takes creativity, time, discipline and an understanding loving partner! :p
- Most of all - Blogging is fun! I vent frustration, observations, achievements, superiority… I blog therefore I am!
A super huge thank you goes out to all! Cheers
“Your topics are random - you need a niche!”
These are comments from friends I have received and I want to explain what it is I am doing at johnnymestizo.com For this I refer to the article by Darren Rowse at Problogger, One Blog Many Categories or Many Blogs.
Darren: One of the common ways that many bloggers start out in their entrepreneurial blogging is through a personal and very general blog that covers many topics of interest. It makes sense in many ways - it’s simpler to have it all in one place, to manage one set of statistics, one design, one set of readers etc. Read the rest of this entry »
I love Australia and Australia loves the Internet. There are 15.3 million Australian Internet users (72.9% of the population) according to internetworldstats.com (Updated 30-Sep-07) From these netizens Blogpond has derived the Top 100 Australian Blogs Index and I have derived the Top 4. Why four? Because I love lifehack.org!

Bloggers use the blog as a personal outlet to vent frustration, creativity, to be sociable, to show off… but eventually you start to think - with all the time you put your blog you should be getting something in return - especially if you pay for hosting and internet access. Blog monetisation was born.
Will the next article on problogger.net or johnchow.com be the magic tip that only I can capitalise allowing me to crush the competition? All I need to do is get that specialised blog running. I find myself doing everyday things asking myself is this a ‘niche’ not yet exploited? Will toiletcleaner.com be already in use? (It actually is!!) It all seems to much so lets sit back and put it into context. What are we up against? Read the rest of this entry »
More of a massive technical update than content at the moment. Moved to BlueHost servers and now using the Wordpress.org software. The transition from Free hosting on Wordpress.org has been seamless, no problems so far. All this will technically and financially allow johnnymestizo.com to exist for the long term.

This will free me up to ‘John Chow‘ the site. Monetization to cover the costs of hosting and deliver on some goals for the page. Namely - I will review my favourite books and people can get it delivers (via an amazon app) right then and there. We will see how we go. Of course I will always stay true to ‘Content is King‘.

Just a note johnnymestizo[dot]com will be getting a lot of work over the Christmas break! From here I will try to increase quality content as much as possible. Also I will be taking the blog off wordpress.com servers to my own host allowing the addition of small advertisements and proper Amazon links for my book reviews. A rough guide to what the site will feature is taking from the pages.
STOMP - My travel articles from worldly places such as Philippines, Hong Kong, and Japan. Also areas around Australia will be very much a target!
SAILIN - I find sailing a brilliant relaxing past time and wish to share my experiences on the oceans as much as possible.
ACTIVE - Fitness is important to me general news links and possibly training programs will be prevalent here.
REVIEW - My top 3 favourite books and a review on each one! Workout your muscles and your brain too. Get your brain MASSIF! This site is a constantly evolving beast and I will serve it religiously.
Til next time - Ingatz!
I’m bloggin second night in a row ! How long will this last let’s see
What I’ve been focusing on is videos, slideshows, thinkin of music to liven it up. However, I will revert to the old line “You can’t beat content” so ill post a worthy read up here soon. Having an avenue to express is good and all but ill keep to the point.
Just to let you know my main experience is merely yacht cruising however looking at the video I can see where I want to be. ABN AMRO knows how to sponsor a yacht - Damn! This site is to show the world sailing is the ultimate past time ! No bias of course but hey.
Will article blog soon thanx !
